Waco Belfry is a magazine about the historic church buildings and downtown congregations of Waco, Texas. It follows Gothic Revival brick sanctuaries, bell towers, stained glass, and the Methodist congregations that were founded, merged, and consolidated between 1900 and 2019. It also covers the weekday ministries that filled their rooms and what happens to a sacred building when a congregation closes.

The site is edited by The Waco Belfry editorial team and is hosted on Cloudflare. It collects no personal data, uses no cookies, and uses no tracking. The texts are written from public sources named in each article. Every congregation, denomination, and organisation is described in the third person. The site does not speak as a church, sells nothing, and does not reproduce the content of the former owner of the domain.

Articles are organised into four sections. Buildings and Architecture looks at materials, styles, and the physical fabric of sanctuaries and towers. Congregations and History follows the people and decisions behind foundations, mergers, and closures. Worship and Music covers organs, choirs, hymnals, and the sound of a room. Ministries and Rooms records how classrooms, kitchens, and gyms were used on weekdays and what those spaces became.

Each article states its sources. Where a record is incomplete or a detail is uncertain, the text says so. The magazine does not invent dates, addresses, or people. It does not publish a photograph without noting what it shows and when it was made.

The audience is readers of Texas local history, preservation-minded residents of Waco and Central Texas, students of sacred architecture, and anyone curious about the downtown churches they walk past. If you have a correction, a source, or a question, write to contact@austinavenueumc.org.
